    Girls' Generation (Korean: 소녀시대, Hanja: 少女時代, Sonyeo Sidae ) is a nine-member South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. The nine members are: Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Sooyoung and Yoona . They are often referred to as SoShi (소시), or SNSD (mainly outside Korea), the first of which is an abbreviation and the second an acronym of the group's Korean name So Nyeo Shi Dae.

Her father was in the college band Hwaljooro with Bae Chul-soo. She is the niece of Lee Soo Man, the founder of SM Entertainment. In 1998, Sunny entered Starlight Entertainment and became a trainee for 5 years.

Tiffany was born in California, and grew up in Diamond Bar as the youngest of three siblings. She auditioned at the SM Entertainment Starlight Casting System and joined the company on October 2004 in Los Angeles. She was trained for 3 years and 7 months.

She auditioned at the SM Entertainment Casting System and joined the company in 2001 after finishing in second place in the 2001 SM Youth Best Dancer Contest. She then underwent training for 5 years and 11 months before her debut. She is currently attending at Chung-Ang University.

Yoona made her debut as a singer along with Girls' Generation on August 5, 2007. She made her debut as an actress in the 2007 Korean drama, 9 Ends, 2 Outs. At a young age, she auditioned at the SM Saturday Open Casting Audition and joined the company in 2002.

    Seohyun (Hangul: 서현; born on June 28, 1991 in Seoul as Seo Joo-Hyun 서주현) is a South Korean K-pop singer and entertainer. She was appointed by the Seoul Metropolitan Office as their goodwill ambassador for student fitness. She attended Seoul Middle School and Daeyoung High School, then transferred to Jeonju Arts High School, from which she graduated on February 9, 2010 with the Achievement Award and currently attends Dongguk University.

Who are Korea’s top singers?

388 celebrities and entertainment representatives recently voted on Korea’s best singers conducted by Korean news portal Enews24.

After everything was tallied, 1st place went to Cho Yong Pil who obtained 58 votes (15.2%). As someone in his 60’s, his performances are just as passionate as when he was in his prime. He continues to greet his fans through a variety of methods, from movies to moving stages. Recently, he has appeared on a broadcasts giving his fans a glimpse of hope of a possible comeback.

2nd place went to YG Entertainment’s Big Bang with 29 votes (7.4%). Though their is a 30 vote gap between 1st and 2nd place, it seems that Big Bang has been chosen as the top artist of the current music industry. They have been the ‘hot icon’ of the music industry for the past several years. As soon as they release new music, they sweep music charts across the board and their fashion is also a continuing topic of conversation.

3rd place went to Lee Seung Chul. Not only is he a representative Korean artist, he is also a judge on ‘Superstar K‘. He has fans of all ages and genders. From broadcasts to internet concerts, he is an hardworking representative artist.

4th place surprisingly went to Kim Bum Soo with 22 votes (5.6%). He is currently confirming his status as an outstanding vocalist by his appearance on MBC’s “I Am a Singer“.

5th place went to the current issue-maker Seo Taiji with 21 votes (5.4%); one vote shy of Kim Bum Soo. Seo Taiji has kept much of his personal life private and hasn’t had much regular activities, yet he managed to get a decent amount of votes. This survey was taken prior to the revealing of his former relationship with actress Lee Ji Ah. The results of this survey may have differed if completed after the incident.

6th and 7th place were claimed by SM Entertainment artists. SNSD had 17 votes (4.3%) while TVXQ had 12 votes (3.0%). There was a tie for 8th place as it went to both Kim Gun Mo and Rain, each with 11 votes (2.8%) respectively. 9th place went to Lee Moon Sae, Yoon Do Hyun, Lee So Ra, and 4minute, each with 8 votes (2%).

The rest of the results include Baek Ji Young, Shin Seung Hoon, Na Ul, and Insooni each obtained 7th votes. Park Jung Hyun (Lena Park), Seo In Young, Lee Eun Mi, and Lee Hyori each had 6 votes. Lastly, Park Hyo Shin, Boohwal, Brown Eyed Soul, and Lim Jae Bum each took in 4 votes.
